Worker dies in gas leak at Bintulu LNG plant

BINTULU, Aug 4 - A worker died after a gas leak occurred at the Malaysian Liquiefied Natural Gas (MLNG) plant in Tanjung Kidurong here today.

A source at Petronas Sarawak confirmed the incident happened at around 4.30pm when the worker together with two colleagues were conducting inspections at a major gas pipeline at the facility.

The three men were said to have fainted after inhaling gas before other workers realised what had happened.

As of 10pm, the condition of the other two workers is yet to be known.

A source at the Bintulu Hospital told Bernama the hospital rushed an ambulance to the scene after receiving a distress call.

MLNG public relations manager Shamsur Taha, when contacted, said an official statement on the incident would be issued by Petronas soon. - Bernama


yanzy_polaris: Oh my God..it's happens at my hometown. How could it be?? I'm really shock when I heard and read about this news on that day.. where's the procedure? Where are all these so called safety officer? That is why the safety culture needs to be cultivated among them. When things like this happen others will learn from the lesson learn b'coz it will be published all around the world within the Oil& Gas industries.
